Who we are...
Riverbend Church is a Southern Baptist church in Hernando, MS. We are a part of the X-tended Missions Network which serves churches in Desoto and Tate County.
Our purpose is to make and equip disciples for the glory of God while serving others and living sent. We are made up of those who have felt the restorative touch of the Gospel and we desire to serve our church body as well as the people in our community who need the hope only the Gospel can bring. We intentionally choose to live out our faith in our homes, workplaces, and beyond.

Where we come from...
Riverbend Church was planted in April of 2007. With a core of 15 people Riverbend started meeting in the fall of 2006 in home prayer and Bible studies praying for God to start a work in the western part of DeSoto County, Lake Cormorant, Mississippi. At the time a huge housing development was in the works, and we started out to be on the “ground floor” of that development as a church.
Our story doesn’t begin as “loners.” Riverbend began with a number of churches coming to help support our new work. We had three major church supporters from day one. Longview Point Baptist Church in Hernando, Lifepoint Church in Senatobia, and First Baptist Church Houston, MS all supported Riverbend’s venture to start a new work in Desoto County.
As we launched on Easter of 2007 we saw God begin to grow our core group and also to change lives around us. We met in homes for small group discipleship and fellowship. We met weekly in Lake Cormorant Middle School for Celebration Worship. Our team was energetic and we were on mission!
The national economy soon went into recession and doomed the planned housing development in Lake Cormorant. As this happened God remained faithful to Riverbend Church. He gave us vision to move into Hernando where He blessed and we have seen His hand at work in numerous people, families and most of all in lives changed for His glory.
We are now over fifteen years old, and our worship gatherings are now in their third location, and God continues to amaze and move in His church. As we meet we constantly speak of being sent-out for ministry and to serve those in our community.

Where we are headed...
Riverbend exists to make and equip disciples for the glory of God. We believe that God has equipped us for this task as we have seen time and again how lives has been changed through the ministry of Riverbend Church. Not only has this been our past, but we believe it to be our future. Hernando needs the restorative touch of the gospel. By God’s grace and the Holy Spirits leading we can bring restoration to those who need it.
